Ballet Du Grand Theatre de Geneve
Making its New York debut, this ballet company from Geneva, Switzerland brings to life three contemporary works that have a shared spirit of openness and generosity. In Andonis Foniadakis's "Selon Désir", heaven and earth are conjured through the monumental opening choruses of Bach's St. Matthew and St. John Passions. Saburo Teshigawara's "Para-Dice" elevates us towards a lighter spirituality with breakneck speed and tense drama. Finally, "Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui" delivers emotion in its pure state in Loin, blending the cultures of East and West. With scenery evocative of Arabian balconies, costumes inspired by Far Eastern martial arts, and 17th century European chamber music, "Cherkaoui" transports dancers and spectators alike. Tuesday-Wednesday at 7:30pm, Thursday-Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2pm and 8pm, Sunday at 2pm.

Men at Dance from Noh to Butoh
"Men at Dance–from Noh to Butoh", a photography exhibition by Miro Ito, is a visual representation of the dichotomy that characterizes Japanese performing arts of the past and present. Ito’s 50 photographs focus on two distinct forms of Japanese dance – Noh and Butoh – capturing the intrinsic qualities of each form, establishing a unique relationship between them. Noh, a traditional dance form, began in the 14th Century, whereas Butoh is a modern form, characterized by a subversion of conventional notions of dance.
