Kenneth Greve said goodbye to his Danish audience with a fabulous performance in the title role in Onegin.

When Nikolaj Hübbe had his farewell performance last month it was evident, that his dancing days were over. Interpretation and personality were intact, but the body was no longer able to perform the technical feats needed. Kenneth Greve who is from the same generation as Hübbe was on the other hand so fit for fight that he was able to bow out on one of his finest performances ever, leaving the audience stunned and very, very  grateful for having the priviledge of enjoying this amazing dancer for 15 years.

The Royal Ballet conquers yet another new stage with an impressive and entertaining programme with works by three international choreographers

As far as numbers of stages goes, the RDB is in paradise. Following the creation of not only the new opera with two stages we got the new drama house with three stages and the ballet has taken almost sole possesion of The Old Stage at the Royal Theatre, the company is now spoilt for choice. For the final programme this season the drama house was conquered with one of the best modern programmes presented in many years.

A dark scene, electronic music, monotone movements. The Royal Danish Ballet is again trying to forge – or force – a link to new modern dance.

Over the last 15 – 20 years, the Royal Danish Ballet has hosted a number of choreographic workshops where dancers, primarily from the ranks of the company, have tried to choreograph small scale works. The company can certainly boast that at least two very good choreographers, Tim Rushton and Alexei Ratmansky, have passed with flying colours and today enjoy very successful careers as choreographers on an international scale. Likewise have Anna Lærkesen and Louise Midjord emerged from the programme into the professional scene. The results off the workshops were usually shown in informal surroundings in the training halls. Following the establishment of the new opera with a small second stage, the workshops are now showing in fully professional surroundings at a normal ticket price.
