THe Royal Danish Ballet have hosted annually choreographer's workshop for almost 20 years. The aim is to allow budding choreographers within the company to test their skill in a safe low-key environment. Over the years the workshops has given talented choreographers like Alexey Ratmansky, Tim Rushton, Michael Corder and Louise Midjord the start of their career. A few years back Cedric Lambrette and Constantine Baecher founded "Cross Connection" as a forum for new choreography. Due to the effort of this initiative this years budding choreographers comes to the task with more experience.

Nikolaj Hübbe is determined to broaden the audience at the Royal Danish Ballet and makes himself, the company and the dignity of the tradition available for every possibility to get in contact with a broader and younger audience. The RDB has come alive on social media like Facebook and Twitter. Nikolaj Hübbe himself is open for any PR opportunity.  In the last weeks he have been in magazines and newspaper on subjects like his reading habits and his favorate room. These last two weeks the company have been the subject of an all access documentary called "The Chosen Ones,"  and judging by the positive comments on facebooks and in letters to newspaper editors, as well as growing and younger audiences at recent performances, it looks like the strategy works. More people are discovinging the joy of being a ballet fan. 

US TOUR 2011 programme is made public

The programes for the  four cities are rather different, so in order to get a fuller view one must attend at least two venue.

Five new soloists

Today Nikolaj Hübbe appointed five dancers to  soloists. The dancers are Alexander Stæger, Gregory Dean, Lena-Maria Gruber, J'aime Crandall and Alexandra Lo Sardo. All five dancers have taking on importants parts in the last season and will probably also dance leading roles on the upcoming tour.

For several of the dancers the promotion follows a busy year where they have danced leading roles in productions like "Napoli", "Swan Lake" and "Sleeping Beauty".
