When a ballet company have a ressource like Alban Lendorf, is it fair that a part of the repertoire is dedicated to his needs for new and big challenges. Rehashing MacMillan's "Manon" is more than justified on that account. As the production also showcase the solution for the perfect partner for Lendorf is more than a added bonus. Alessandra Lo Sardo makes a stunning Manon and stake her claim as a RDB leading ballerina.

When Nikolaj Hübbe presented his Fellininesque take on Bournonville masterpiece "Napoli" he did not go the whole way. His third act did not really follow his intentions of a Napoli set in the 1950ties Italy but costumewise stayed closer to the 1840s look. He has now give the production an overhaul, including bringing Act3 in the same timecode as the rest of the performance.
However this little manoeuvre does not really help Bournonville to more comfort in his own ballet.
