Comings and goings
When Alban Lendorf guested in Coppelia at English National Ballet, a reviewer wrote that it was strange how well he could act the role of Franz, as he had never danced it before. For a Dane it is easily explained. It is part of his DNA as a Danish dancer. Earlier the Danish version of "Coppelia" was in steady repertoire at the Royal Theatre and was grazed by dancers like Fredbjørn Bjørnsson and Niels Kehlet, two great Gennaro's as well. Lendorf’s education at RDB School has trained him in the employ of a demi-charactere dancer. Therefore it was no big challenge to do Franz. Lendorf has also used the summer to do Basil in "Don Quixote", another potential signature role for him, currently not in the Danish repertoire, but a likely re-appearance at the RDB in a not too far season (hopefully not in the awful Cuban version, last chosen by Frank Andersen). This way Lendorf gets the chance to fill out his dance card, without Nikolaj Hübbe having to produce these standard ballets at home.
