Jon Axel Fransson has been nominated as Dancer of the Year in the most prestigious Danish scene Award for his role as Von Rothbart in Silja Schandorff and Nikolaj Hübbe's recent production of Swan Lake,
He shares the nomination with two modern dance performers: Mark Philip, from Uppercut Danseteater and Kitt Johnson, Post No Bills, X-Act.
The nomination concludes a fine season for the Icelandic born and RDB educated dancer where he had shown his diverse talents in "Lady of The Camellias" as the besotted Count, Gurn in "La Sylphide" and soloist in "Etudes".
Schandorff's and Hübbe's "Swan Lake" redefined Von Rothbart as a scheming Shakespearian ursurper who takes part in all four Acts and is provided with some serious virtuoso solos. In addition to Van Rothbart, Jon Axel Fansson also dances Benno. A role that also has been fattened up for the production.
Jon Axel Fransson has danced leading roles like Pas de Six and Balabile in Napoli. The prince in
Nutcracker, Grand Pas Classique, Geert in “Kermes in Bruges”, Golden Idol in “La Baydere”. He is a very complete dancer with a strong technique, great acting skill and an excellent partner.
